History of Jaisalmer

Jaipur’s history is very different from that of other cities in Rajasthan; this city was founded in the 12th century by Rawal Jaisal at the top of Trikuta Hill. Jaisalmer is the ancient trade destination from where Jaisalmer traded silk, spices, and stones with other regions. Apart from that, the Jaisalmer Fort was built in 1156 AD, and this fort got another name Golden Fort due to its yellow walls, which look like gold when sunlight falls on the sandstone walls. Not only this, but over the centuries Jaisalmer witnessed the rise and fall of many empires of clans, like Rajputs, Mughals, and Marathas as well. Nowadays, Jaisalmer is considered one of the best places to visit not only in Rajasthan but in India. People come here to witness the architecture, the desert, and the cultural heritage in the luxury train journey in Jaisalmer.
